Dubai’s biggest sports club is back from next month. Dubai Sports World returns for a seventh year so everyone staying in Dubai over the summer can try to keep in shape.
Opening on Thursday, 1st June, the seventh season of the indoor workout space will run until 2nd September, from 8am-1am every day – and some bits are completely free to use.
Always popular, more than a million visitors are set to get physical in the air-conditioned venue, which is spread across 25,000 square metres in the Sheikh Saeed Halls at Dubai World Trade Centre.
What can we do there?
Pretty much any sport that involves a track or a court! There’s badminton (12 courts – six more than last year) four pro-standard pitches for five-a-side football; four pro-standard pitches for seven-a-side football and rugby; six basketball courts; three tennis courts; a mini-cricket pitch; a regulation-sized volleyball court; gym; fitness studio; a cycling studio; 500 metre running track and table tennis zone.
To mix things up a bit, there’ll also be events going on throughout the summer, with a skate day on 14th June and Zumba party 4th August.
And what about kids?
Good news for tiny Tony Hawks, Skate Park returns and also new for 2017 is Just Play Sports Camp, a Ninja Warriors course, Trampoline Park and kid-friendly raquet-sport padel with the Zayed Abbas Tennis Academy.
Although the gym and running track are free to use, they’re first come, first served and will be busy at peak times.
Courts do need to be booked and slots are filling up already. Basketball starts from AED 80 an hour, football from AED 240 and trampolining for AED 50 an hour. Sign up at www.dubaisportsworld
