WWE finds its first Arabic female wrestler in Dubai

Ladies’ wrestling got us all ready to rumble over the summer as we were glued to Glow, the massively popular Netflix series set in the 1980s. Now Dubai has its very own WWE star, Shadia Bseiso, who is also a trained Brazilian Jiu Jitsu athlete and a CrossFit enthusiast.

Shadia, from Jordan, made history after her Dubai tryout, where she became the first Arabic woman to sign a developmental contract with WWE.

More than 40 would-be wrestlers from all over the Middle East and India attended  invitation-only event in Dubai, however judges singled out Shadia because of her athleticism and charisma.

She’s now really excited to begin training at the WWE Performance Centre in Orlando, Florida in January.

“Working with WWE is an incredible opportunity. I have visited the Performance Centre and attended the Mae Young Classic. I have personally witnessed the power of WWE and the passion of WWE fans. I look forward to starting on my path to becoming a WWE Superstar,” she says.

To learn more about Dubai’s superwoman, tune in to OSN’s one hour behind-the-scenes special around the tryouts, which will air in late November.

Presenter Shadia is certainly no stranger to the small screen. The bilingual athlete has interviewed the likes of PitBull, Lionel Richie, Sean Paul and Nancy Ajram at the 2016 Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix.

And her new colleagues at the WWE have every faith in her. “We’re confident Shadia will help inspire future WWE Superstars, as we continue to recruit the most talented athletes and entertainers from around the world,” says WWE Executive Vice President, Paul “Triple H” Levesque.
