Have you been clocking up those 30 minutes of exercise every day? Or are your trainers still box fresh and the gym membership untouched?
Dubai Fitness Challenge, the month-long initiative to get us all moving, ends this weekend with a sports-themed festival at Dubai Festival City. On the 17th and 18th November, there will be dragon boat racing, sunset yoga, exercise classes, a children’s fitness zone, competitions, an awards ceremony, Festival City’s waterfront light show and huge firework finale – all for free.
Thousands of people are expected to join a Guinness World Record attempt for the most people simultaneously doing jump squats.
Appearing at the fit fest will be World Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua, who said of the Fitness Challenge: “It’s a great initiative that encourages people to get active for 30 minutes daily for 30 days. I am committed to getting people moving and I’m looking forward to being part of this fitness movement. Yallah! See you there!”
Launched at the end of October by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the 30×30 drive calls on everyone in the emirate to do 30 minutes of exercise every day, for 30 days.
It’s not too late! Download the app to track your progress and join free classes, from 6am bootcamps on The Palm to an after-work boxing class in Al Quoz.
Dubai Fitness Challenge closing ceremony takes place at Festival City from 1pm-9pm Friday and 1pm-7.55pm Saturday. www.dubaifitnesschallenge.com.
