They say Dubai is like a playground for grown-ups and now we actually have one for everyone from kids to those of us who should know better.
Japanese concept Hawa Hawa has opened at new beachfront La Mer in JBR and its creators say it’s perfect for “children, teenagers and adults that can’t sit still.”
Appropriately, the air-filled experience is shaped like the sands of the desert, with two dunes and seven peaks that are perfect for running, climbing and bouncing about.
It’s the first Hawa Hawa installation outside of East Asia, where apparently it’s a favourite in public parks. Spread over 1,800 square metres, the imaginative playground is just a few metres away from La Mer North’s cafes and restaurants and will be open 10am-10pm weekdays and until midnight at weekends.
Each dune at Hawa Hawa is made from strong all-weather material, with the small dune reserved for kids aged six and under to play in safety, while bigger kids can bounce about on the larger mound. To spend 15 minutes there costs AED 25 and 30 minutes is AED 40. A pair of grippy socks will be an extra AED 5.
It can also host private bookings, which sounds like the best office party ever!
Covering a pretty massive 13.4 million square feet of land between Pearl Jumeira and Jumeira Bay, La Mer opened in October 2017. Split into three zones – La Mer South, La Mer North and The Wharf – the leisure destination by Meeras takes its inspiration from what the sea brings up to shore.
The first phase of the project will have more than 1,300 shops, cafés, restaurants, and places for beach activities on its 2.5 kilometres of sands. We hung out there and as you can see, it’s a pretty cool place to spend the day, with beach-side showers, free wifi, information hubs, mobile charging and more!
