Fancy yourself as king (or queen) of the basketball courts?
Dubai Sports World (DSW) wants players willing to slamdunk their way to victory in the Street Basketball Champions Tournament. A total of 64 teams will attempt to block out the opposition to claim cash prizes of up to AED 10,000.
Matches take place from 14th July, every Saturday and Sunday, between 9pm-11pm. Entry is AED 1,000 and registrations are open at the DSW website or app.
So channel your inner Teen Wolf, make like Space Jam and book a spot for you and your basketball buddies. If they’re old enough to remember those two classic basketball movies, better have medics on standby too.
If you’re not the competitive type, the emirate’s largest indoor summer sports arena has a schedule of fun and fitness with something for everyone. From now until September, try out its football, rugby, basketball, badminton, volleyball and tennis courts, hit the 400-metre running track, or work up a sweat on snazzy Techogym equipment at the pop-up Gold’s Gym. The track and gym are free to use and there are hourly rates for pitch hire on a first-come, first-served basis.
For little athletes, Just Play Sports Camp returns for a second year, with a Ninja Warrior zone, football, rugby, basketball, arts and crafts, gymnastics, from 9am to 12pm daily.
After the line-up began with Frenchman Pierre-Antoine Dumas winning a Men’s Open Singles Tennis Challenge, more summer tournaments are planned for DSW. We’ll let you know more as we find out!
