UAE cricket fans craving some life action don’t have long to wait. Tickets have just gone on sale for the Asia Cup 2018.
This year Emirates Cricket Board, with Board of Control for Cricket in India, is hosting the 13-day event. Matches in the one-day men’s tournament take place at Dubai International Stadium and Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi from September.
The first game will see Bangladesh take on Sri Lanka at Dubai International Stadium. With tickets from just AED 35 in Dubai, we’re predicting ticket sales will be hit for six, especially for the India-Pakistan showdown here on 19th September. Afghanistan and Bangladesh will also play in the cup’s 14th edition.
Eight matches are held in Dubai and five in the capital, with the final at 1pm on 28th September in Dubai. Apart from the final, all start from 3.30pm and follow a 50-over format, so you might need to get that time off work confirmed to see the world-class cricketers in action.
Khalid Al Zarooni, Vice Chairman of Emirates Cricket Board, said, “We are proud to host the 2018 Asia Cup in the UAE, which promises to be a thrilling festival of cricket with some of the world’s best players battling it out on the field.
“The game of cricket is hugely popular here in the UAE, and we are sure there will be a fantastic atmosphere in the stands, as well as great entertainment on the field throughout the tournament.”
For fans wanting to indulge in some post-game analysis nearby Kickers Sports Bar, in the Football Academy Building, is open until 2am.
