So, what exactly is UAE Flag Day?
UAE Flag Day is a national event created by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai in November 2013 to mark His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s accession. Since then all seven emirates have celebrated in their usual spectacular style.
Thursday, November 2nd is Flag Day this year, rather than November 3rd, as it was before. Although it’s not a public holiday, Flag Day is a day of celebration, unity, loyalty, and recognition of the values established by the UAE’s founding fathers.
Sheikh Mohammed’s words best sum it up:
The Flag of the Emirates is a symbol of our unity, pride, success and glory. We raise it together, high in our nation’s blue skies. pic.twitter.com/yPJy71q5as
