This year sees the biggest Dubai Design Week to date, with more than 200 events and lots to see, hear and learn.
Head to d3 (Dubai Design District) between the 13th-18th November to sample a vast programme celebrating all things design, most of which are free to attend.
There are free workshops in photography, craft and food design. Visitors can compete in various skill-based challenges, attend studio open days and listen to talks from industry experts.
Who will be speaking at the event?
This year’s keynote speakers are: Sir David Adjaye, the architect behind the Nobel Peace Centre in Oslo; Elmar Mock the Swiss Swatchmaking maestro; leading innovator in sustainable architecture practices Mario Cucinella (curator of the Italian Pavilion, Venice Biennale); founding Dean of Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation Sass Brown and PepsiCo’s Chief Design Officer, Mauro Porcini shares insights from a career in Design Thinking.

The Abwab Exhibition
Talent based in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia selected by their peers selection. Their efforts are housed in a building designed by Dubai-based Fahed + Architects that will filter light to cast patterned shadows.

Design moguls Fredrikson Stallard have collaborated with Swarovski to create a mesmeric amber-coloured crystal installation. Watch more than 8,000 crystal droplets glisten in a free-standing four-metre steel frame.

GraphicsRCA: Fifty Years and Beyond
This exhibition celebrates 50 years of the London Royal College of Art’s graphic design course. Includes rare examples of work from alumni that have gone on to be designers of repute in their own right. Expect to see film posters; special Royal Mail stamps; pioneering digital design works and typographic trickery.
