Interested in the history of Dubai Police? The force has unveiled a new museum.
It’s packed with historical bits and bobs – photographs of military exercises gone by, vintage wireless radios and marine rescue boats, uniforms through the ages – there’s even six police cars parked up outside.
Museum supervisor Lieutenant-Colonel Maryam Saeed Al Shamsi said visitors are welcome to come along to discovcer the history of Dubai Police. It will be open 8am-8pm at the police academy in Umm Suqiem Road.
Law and order buffs might also want to check out the main police museum in the Dubai Police General Headquarters in Al Twar, which was founded in 1987 and charts the force’s history – though you do need to apply to the director of the museum for a visit.
No word on how to get access to the new museum, but a call to the Police Academy could be a good place to start – 04 348 2255.
