You might hear the next big thing or maybe you’re the one belting it out on stage. Whether you’re the entertainer or the entertained, here are five of Dubai’s best open mic nights.
Pizza Express Live
Nestled in the heart of Bay Square, this Italian jam-pad is always bustling with live music and cheerful social groups. The ‘Live’ branch of Pizza Express is a first in Dubai and has a reputation in the UK for providing a platform for unrecognised artists.
Bands Swing Revue, Abri and Funk Radius, and Vandalye all opened the Dubai Jazz Fest, and often play at Pizza Express. Coincidence? We think not. Good news, musicians – you enjoy happy hour rates every Wednesday, even after 8pm.
Every Wednesday. 8pm to 1am. Pre-registration open at 7pm. Happy hour from 4pm to 8pm. DoubleTree by Hilton Dubai Business Bay, Business Bay. 21 and above. Organisers say 18-20s may be admitted – call ahead to check on 04 526 0101.
This monthly event invites talent from all over the UAE and provides a space for poets, comics and musicians. Seniority is only measured by talent, for this event is open to all ages. Keep a lookout for Blank Space’s limited slots on its Facebook page. Events take place at the Youth Hub, near Emirates Towers, and other venues around Dubai.
Register on the day of the event at the venue. Free to perform. Check facebook.com/BlankSpaceOpenMic to find times and locations.
