Just in time for cooler temperatures and visitors arriving, Dubai Garden Glow returns.
The popular attraction at Zabeel Park is back for a fourth season and this year’s theme is ‘Glowing Safari’.
New for 2018/2019 is an Art Park, with installations and art works made from recycled materials. Sustainability has been a feature of the neon tourist attraction since its launch in 2015. Original attractions that prove popular every year include a model of the Burj Khalifa made from 300,000 brightly coloured bottles and Grand Sheikh Zayed Mosque re-created from 90,000 porcelain cups, plates and spoons.
Also back for the new season are the Dinosaurs Park and Ice Park. Visitors who enter this chilly recreation of our city are handed warm jackets, as it’s kept at -8 degrees centigrade and has ice sculptures of UAE landmarks including the Burj Khalifa, Sheikh Zayed Mosque and the Burj Al Arab.
A dino themed park-within-a-park has 100 growling animatronic models, which little ones will love. Each prehistoric creature comes with a handy information points for petit palaeontologists to soak up facts about their favourite giant lizard.
Light sculptures made up of 10 million LEDs cover more than 100 acres of Zabeel Park and it’s worth leaving a couple of hours to stroll round the flowers, animals and insects created by a team of over 500 artists. There are food trucks too, so you can refuel on the way.
Although it opens at 4pm, Dubai Garden Glow is best seen after dark, when each installations has a magical glow (because you can’t see the wires and plugs). Catch them all between now and early next year.
