It’s the time of year when people want to eat a little healthier. New resolutions start with small changes, so switch up where you’re eating out to one of these places and try some delicious yet good-for-you food.
Stomping Grounds, Jumeirah 1
Coffee lovers – primarily a coffee hub, Stomping Grounds also serves a wide range of healthy dishes. With its quirky wooden furniture and loads of coffee beans to choose from, the restaurant is quickly becoming a firm favourite in Jumeirah. Everything we tried there was delicious, from the acai bowl to the veggie wrap (which is actually wrapped in a dosa).
7.30am-11pm (12am Thursday and Friday), Jumeirah 1 – next to Dubai Zoo. 04 344 4451.
Hapi, Al Quoz
Fancy working out in a coffee shop? Hapi is the latest addition to Al Quoz’s line of healthy hipster cafes, specialising in coffee, ice cream, fresh juices and bone broth – a current Hollywood trend, and one of the most powerful superfoods you can have. You can also try your hand at parkour while you wait for your food, as Parkour DXB has set up home there!
8am-10pm daily (closed Fridays), Alserkal Avenue. 04 225 1807.
The Acai Spot, Deira
This is definitely one of the healthiest (if not, most) spot in town! Tucked away in old Dubai, everything about this place is amazing, from the interiors to the service to the milkshakes and acai bowls – another superfood that’s super good for you!
8am-11pm daily, Port Saeed (one minute walk from Deira City Centre, Metro Exit 2). 04 559 7849.
Pineapple Express, JLT
Great-looking food that’s actually good for you. This Brisbane café has transplanted neatly to JLT, where it serves detox superfood acai bowls (basically a smoothie in a bowl), the ubiquitous smashed avo and is the first place in the UAE to sell Coco Whip, a dairy-free alternative to ice cream, made from coconut water.
8am-10pm daily (8pm Fridays) First Floor, Almas Tower, Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT). www.facebook.com/pineappleexpressdubai
