Chocolate hummus is now a thing but we’re really not sure

Chocolate hummus

Has fusion cuisine gone too far? The creamy alchemy that is chocolate hummus is now available in Dubai and we can’t decide whether it’s our favourite thing or Frankenstein food.

Health gurus Kcal have launched a range of dessert hummus that’s a sweet-toothed twist on the favourite Middle Eastern mezze. HumDip combines chocolate and chickpeas in three flavours – Chocolate Hazelnut, Chocolate Peanut Butter and Mocha – with a dash of  nut butter and a drizzle of honey.

If you care, the chocolate varieties clock in at about 220 calories and 11 grammes of fat per portion, while mocha is less than 200 kcal and just over 6g of fat.

Find them all in Kcal’s healthy lifestyle restaurants, where each snack-sized serving is paired with bite-size apple slices (AED 15) or cranberry hazelnut wholegrain crackers (AED 18). For now it’s a limited edition, but if the clean-eating craving are real, it could be added to the main menu.

Full disclosure – we haven’t tried the healthy take on brownie batter YET. According to Mark Carroll, Kcal co-founder and CEO, says: “HumDip is not only revolutionising the healthy snack world, it is also so good. It’s terribly hard to stop when you start.”

Dessert hummus first became a thing in States and is now dividing the world as to whether it’s delicious or deviant.

HumDip will be available in all Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah Kcal stores for dine in, take-away and delivery. See kcallife.com for your nearest branch.
