Home grown maestros of Mexican food, Taqado have just launched a new vegan, Lean Mean Bean Menu, and it is utter plant-based brilliance.
Veganism seems to have gone from wooly tank tops to top of the pops almost overnight. With celebrities like Beyonce and Jay Z championing the cause, and recently offering free concert tickets to vegan converts, plant-based lifestyles are about as 2019 as it’s possible to get.
The swelling ranks of dairy dodgers, both hall of fame inducted and us ‘normos’, means demand for vegan products is growing fast. There’s a rough eight per cent year-on-year increase in the annual spend on plant-based food and meat and dairy alternatives, according to a recent survey conducted by Nielsen for the Good Food Institute.
Taqado have always catered for vegans and vegetarians with a range of meat substitutes on their menu, but the introduction of the Lean Mean Bean Menu marks an intent to create taste experiences specifically for veggie pledgees.
Amigos visiting Taqado will now be able to dine out (or in) on a new vegan burrito (AED 42), vegan quesadilla (AED 42), and a vegan earth salad (AED 50). They’re created using include special ingredients like flavour-filled kale, plump mushrooms, vegan cheese, and whole wheat tortillas, combined with existing vegan-friendly produce such as marinated peppers, onion and sweetcorn salsa.
Also added to the general menu is a guilt-free lemonade (AED 15, 16 calories) and Diego’s Beasty Box (AED 55), which is not vegan, but packed with a healthy balanced melange of deliciousness.
The Lean Mean Bean Menu is available NOW across all 18 Taqados in the UAE (including Media City, The Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, Mercarto, Downtown, Kite Beach, Business Bay, Studio City and more in Dubai). And Taqado our word for it, we can’t wait to try it.
