Five of the best steakhouses to try in Dubai for 2019

With a wide range of meat-eateries in Dubai – there’s never been so much at… steak… for the title of best steakhouse. Here’s our pick of five of the best.

The City Grill, The Atrium

City Grill, The Atrium

Are you a steak-lover up for a challenge? Head to The City Grill for the Tomahawk Steak Challenge – 1.25 kg (AED 650) of American prime cut beef, accompanied by a choice of three sides and an array of sauces. You can win some pretty decent prizes, if you can finish the lot alone.

Friendly staff escort us to our table and give us warm loaves of bread to snack on. We don’t think it was good idea to eat before embarking on the challenge, but they smelt too good to resist!

Sizzling, rich and juicy, the steak arrived and tender and flavourful, it doesn’t disappoint. We manage to pass the challenge while enjoying every mouthful. If you’re not feeling so competitive, two could share the meat feast quite easily.

Daily 5pm-1am. The Atrium, Al Habtoor City. Dubai Week dined as a guest of the venue. 04 437 0088.

Prime 68, Business Bay

Prime 68
This classy restaurant is on the 68th floor of the JW Marriott Marquis, one of the world’s tallest hotels, guaranteeing stunning views of the city.

Steak is the main delight, with a toothsome selection of Australian Wagyu, American Wagyu 8+, Jacob’s Creek Black Angus and Japanese A5 Waygu Striploin. The latter will set you back AED 1,300. However you can arrive between 6pm-7pm to take advantage of the early bird offer, where diners can enjoy a three-course set menu for AED 200.

Open daily 6pm-midnight (brunch 1pm-4pm Fridays). JW Marriott Marquis, Sheikh Zayed Road, Business Bay. 04 414 0000.

STK, Rixos Premium, JBR

If you like your dining experiences as well-seasoned as your steak – STK is a great option. They have a DJ and theme evenings for every night of the week, including their popular Friday evening ‘Dare to Brunch’ (from AED 399). Where the vibe is part party but the mood is all foodie.

All the beef dishes come from premium quality USDA prime sources, with the range of cuts you’d expect from a quality steakhouse. Choose from smaller fillets, tender striploins, ribeyes, T-bone and tomahawks – as well as a healthy selection of less ‘steaky’ mains.

There are now two STK restaurants in Dubai – one in the JBR area, at the Rixos Premium, and the other in the Address Downtown. The rapid growth here is testament to the quality of product.

Saturday-Tuesday 6pm-1am, Wednesday-Thursday 6pm-2am, Friday 1pm-2am. STK Dubai JBR, Rixos Premium, The Walk, Jumeirah Beach Residences. 04 425 3948.

Nusr-Et Steak House, Jumeirah

Nusr-Et Steak House

Like eating your steak with a show? Head to Nusr-Et, where you’re guaranteed entertainment. You might even get a chance to see the owner ‘Salt Bae’ whose unique method of preparing meat made him an internet sensation.

We recommend the Nusret ‘spaghetti steak’ and the Lokum Steak. Be warned, dishes come with hefty price tags of about the AED 350 mark, however portions are quite large.

Open daily 12pm-12am. Nusr-Et Dubai. Four Seasons Hotel, Jumeirah Road. 04 407 4100.

Seafire at Atlantis The Palm

Seafire at Atlantis The Palm

If you’re a meat lover with money to spare, head to Seafire. Here they’re serving one of the city’s most decadent steak dishes, the Seafire Rossini. Atlantis tenderloin comes with brioche toast, truffle cream, fois gras and Maderia sauce. The whole lot will cost you AED 375, so be sure to savour every bite!

Open daily 5pm-11pm. Atlantis, the Palm Jumeirah. 04 426 2626.
