Having Art Week withdrawals? With all the creativity on display at Art Dubai, Sikka Art Fair, Design Days, Galleries Night, Art Nights, and all the other artsy events, you’d think Dubai might take a little well-deserved break…
But, no. Art Week may be over, however Art Season continues on with the third edition of World Art Dubai.
So how is this different from the rest? World Art Dubai is an affordable art fair, which proves you don’t need to spend all your savings away to acquire art.
Starting from just AED 367, you can snap up original, quality artwork at every price point.
Over 3,000 paintings, prints, sculptures, and photographs will be on display at World Art Dubai, with dedicated spaces for galleries, solo artists and group shows.
Bringing in both regional and international artists, one theme that is strongly featured in this year’s art fair is Islamic art, with contemporary works by Middle Eastern artists.
One of the new features to expect this year is ‘Exhibition Islam’, which includes contemporary works by artists from or with roots in the Middle East. Drawing inspiration from their own cultural traditions, the artists are free to use techniques, imagery and ideas from earlier periods to build creative links between the past, present and future.
Speaking of Islamic art, Egyptian artist Mohamed El Banna, who will be showcasing his Arabic calligraphy artwork at the fair, says: “Nowadays you will find several contemporary artists taking the lead towards a new vision of this art. From Morocco to India, you can enjoy countless beautiful pieces of ancient Islamic Art, which is inspiring many of today’s contemporary artists.”
Another new feature to look forward to at World Art Dubai is the ‘Wearable Art Fashion Show’ – a fashion show by the region’s top fashion students, which will be taking place on the opening night.
On top of that, there will also be creative workshops, masterclasses, live painting, an installation park, art talks, and the Ripe Market!
The community of artists in our region is growing by the day, with only a select few getting the chance to exhibit their works at art galleries.
World Art Dubai is a platform where those artists can showcase their talents, and connect with art lovers who are looking to buy art at affordable prices.
“World Art Dubai is essentially bridging a gap in the Middle East and UAE market for affordable art and complements the existing art scene in Dubai,” says Trixie LohMirmand, SVP, Exhibitions and Events Management, Dubai World Trade Centre.
She adds: “From young and emerging artists to established names, the event will host a diverse collection of contemporary art work for every budget.”
