As temperatures begin to cool down in Dubai, outdoor areas begin to unfurl and bloom around our newly-temperate emirate.
Sliding doors are reopened, parasols wheeled-back in to place, and all outdoor furniture is given a good old hose down in preparation for the fresh air-seeking punters.

The Picnic Pantry brunch
What’s happening? Lounge on the lawn where bijou white benches give a picnic feel and guests are given a basket to collect food from ‘the pantry.’ Packages start at AED 245, but children under 12 dine free and pool access is now included at this family-friendly affair.

La Cala’s outdoor happy hours
What’s happening? Escape the office and head out of town for two-for-ones beverages with beautiful views of the water and the laidback Balearic vibe. Check out our review of the venue.

When? Sunday-Thursday, 12pm-8pm
What’s happening? Watch the latest blockbusters under the stars while lounging on beanbags, or go VIP with a couch. Tickets are AED 150 weekends and AED 130 weekdays, which includes a hamper of cinema-friendly nibbles.

The Ripe Market
What’s happening? The Ripe Market’s summer season is back. Check out stalls offering a variety of craft products, boutique fashion labels and organic farm produce, plus a welcome sprinkling of food trucks and group activities like yoga sessions and pop-up cinemas.
When? 9am-4pm, every Friday.
Where? Zabeel Park, Gate 2 (also at Al Barsha Pond Park, 10am-8pm, 14th October, then every Saturday).
What’s happening? A favourite with Media City workers, the Garden returns with daily happy hour from 6pm-8pm, live music on Thursday and Friday, ladies’ night on Tuesday and the frankly terrifying prospect of a double brunch on Friday (from AED 395). Stay for the night or use the garden as your launch pad into the weekend.

When does it start? 12pm-3am.
What’s happening? Make the most of the cooler weather from the moment you get up and join free yoga sessions by the sea. Classes are first-come-first-served, and suitable for all levels, so skip the snooze button and get there early.
