Van Gogh comes alive in Dubai this week

Van Gogh

See this amazing exhibition in Dubai before its Van-Gone

Words: Colin Armstrong

A new multi-sensory experience that will showcase the work of one of the most famous post-impressionist artists of all time is on its way to Dubai.

The Van Gogh Alive exhibition will bring the paintings of the namesake artist in to focus at Dubai Design District from 11th March-23rd April.

Art lovers who saw during its recent stint at Abu Dhabi National Theatre were wowed; among the admirers were our sister site, Abu Dhabi World, who went to experience the visually stirring installation and shoot this incredible time lapse footage:

Aiming to capture the imagination of art lovers and people unfamiliar with the work of Van Gogh, the exhibition will see iconic paintings projected on the walls, floors and ceiling, displayed alongside a specially chosen score of classical music.

Prolific during his lifetime, Van Gogh created as many as 2,000 works of art including ‘The Starry Night’, ‘Café Terrace at Night’, ‘The Church at Auvers’ and a series of self-portraits.

Released from the confines of their frames and given a sensory experience, it’s unlike anything you’d experience in a standard art museum.

Of course, you’ll need to take a trip to the capital if you want to see one of Van Gogh’s original 1887 self-portraits. Find it at the recently opened Louvre, amongst almost 600 carefully-curated works of art.

Tickets for the Dubai leg of the tour are AED 70 for adults and AED 65 for students and children, available through Platinum List and Virgin Megastore.
