Looking for a new weekend destination where you can soak up the cooler weather? The Yard at Al Khawaneej is waiting for you.
You might have already been there to check out food truck stop Last Exit D89, which opened in 2017. Now it’s extended by 350,000-square-foot into a fully-fledged ‘suburban hideaway’ with a rustic courtyard, walking trails, lake and a picnic area.
Lookwise, it’s certainly channelling those rustic vibes for the ‘Gram. Grab that #outdoorvibes shot by an 18-metre-tall windmill, water-mill, a wishing well, decorative vintage pick-up trucks and colourful murals of farm yard animals.
What’s sure to clinch The Yard as a must-do hang out is what could be Dubai’s first Promise Bridge – a cute traditon originating in Europe where people pledge to the special people in their life by fixing a padlock to a bridge.
As well bringing the romantic vibes ahead of Valentine’s Day, there are also a choice of places to refresh, from a bakery and picturesque picnic spots near shaded trails, to open-air restaurants serving breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Last Exit’s food trucks offer more options for stuffing your face – with meaty treats from Mooyah Burgers, crazy desserts from The Inventing Room and everyone’s favourite hot drink at My Karak.
Developers Meraas say The Yard will also hold community events and eventually grown into a 2.8 million square-foot destination in Dubai’s agricultural heartland.
Find it near Mushrif Park, where it will stay open 24/7, with tons of parking. Food trucks at Last Exit are open 7am-2am.
Nouf A lMheiri, Architect at Meraas, said: “The Yard reflects Meraas’s strong commitment to creating imaginative and exciting family-friendly destinations that provide opportunities for Dubai’s residents and visitors to share unforgettable experiences.”
