How to fill your weekend with hearts, arts and chill

What starts with a Thursday and ends with a Saturday? The time of your life, that’s what. We’ve got romantic treats, nights of wild abandon and kid friendly fun stuff to fill that time with.

Thursday, 14th February

Love handles

Tribeca is throwing a special party for Valentine’s Day – but fret not, single-and-ready-to-mingletons, this glamorous amorous evening is devoted to you. Guests will be given colour coded wristbands according to relationship status, helping Cupid fire off arrows with a bit more accuracy and a clearer conscience. AED 249 gets you an evening brunch of lovely Latin-themed food and select beverages.

AED 249. 8pm-12am. Tribeca, first floor, JA Ocean View Hotel, JBR. 050 345 6067.

We love the quirky retro vibe of Roxy Cinemas. They’re a romantic nod towards the golden age of film, but furnished with all the modern luxury and convenience that we’ve developed a sense of entitlement to. The Roxy Cinemas Valentine’s Day package is pretty good value. For AED 300, you get two Platinum Plus tickets to either rom-com staple – ‘Notting Hill’ or recently dropped blockbuster ‘Alita: Battle Angel.’ The in-screen in-love meal includes two starters, one sharing platter, plus two romantic desserts and mocktails.

AED 300 per couple. City Walk, The Beach and Box Park locations. 13th and 14th February.

News on Britney, Just-in

The House Party Bar Dubai, a watering hole permanently stuck somewhere between 1994 and 2008, is proudly flaunting its unattached status with a Britney and Justin break-up party. If your name is either Justin or Britney, as a consolation for having had ‘CRY ME A RIVER’ sung in your face throughout your entire life after introducing yourself, you can drink for free. There’s still a brilliant drinks package available if you have any other name.

AED 150 select unlimited drinks between 6pm and 10pm. Closes 3am. The House Party Bar Dubai, Fairmont Dubai, DWTC area. 050 995 54000.

Friday, 15th February

Red, dead, ticket redemption

Red Fest DXB is BACK for 2019 with its usual roster of massive current recording artists. On Friday music fans will be treated to top tunes from Jax Jones, Macklemore, Camila Cabello and a closing flourish from resident deck-nician DJ Dany Neville. We personally can’t wait for Macklemore; the thought of a field full of people bopping to ‘Poppin’ Tags’ is really getting us through this week.

From AED 395. 4pm-12am. Media City Amphitheatre.

Don’t mansion the party

Billionaire Mansion is holding a gloriously Gatsby-esque secret party under the patronage of Madame Delacroix. The chance of entertaining theatrical diva antics from the fictional host is high, she is a lady of certain quirks – but on the more predictable side, we know that women can drink for free between 10pm and 3am.

Free. 7pm-3am. Billionaire Mansion, Taj Hotel, Downtown. 04 510 3100
