If there’s one meal that fits a blustery Sunday, it’s a good old fashioned roast dinner. Over to Baker & Spice, whose oven-cooked offerings take some beating. Treat your little sweeties to a camp for elitees
We know it seems like the kids have only been back in school for five minutes, but half term is back. For kids that get a kick out of sport, there’s only one goal they should be focusing on this semester break, an Elite Sports Academy course. The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships has begun and as usual we LOVE taking ADVANTAGE of the accessible ticket prices. Starting from AED 55 you can catch clashes of huge names from the tour. Although the line-up for men’s week is still to be confirmed, the draw for the women’s tournament has already been made. Bear Grylls skills
Just in time for half-term, XPark Jr is holding another week of Urban Forest School, the nurture-based learning course. It’s the perfect way to sneak a cheeky spot of education into the school break with fun activities like as arts & crafts, den building, campfire skills, planting and animal care. Sessions are divided into three age groups – the four to five year olds, six to seven, and eight to nine.

The butterfly effect
Alright, alright, alright. Imagine having 100 exotic butterflies on your hand like Mathew McConaughey in the Dallas Buyers Club. Al Noor Island in Sharjah is offering a similar experience in its indoor butterfly house just off the Sharjah Corniche. The butterfly park is set on a tranquil island that houses 22 diverse species. Don’t forget to take in the sculptures and a beautiful sunset as you sip coffee from the in-house Noor Café.

The comeback Kidz Fest
Yas Kidz Fest, the UAE’s largest kids festival, is coming to dU Arena on Yas Island and it is absolutely worth the quick road trip up to the capital, and at least a few choruses of ‘are we nearly there yet?’ Activities are split into age ranges to make exploring the event utter kids’ play. There’s a Splash ’n’ Party Kids Play Town and Inflatable Zone, a Mad Science Discovery Zone, a Little Chef Zone, a talent show, Magic Phil will be there, there’s a Soccer and Fitness Zone, a silent disco, a Baby Zone and an opportunity to meet multiple kids’ characters.

If an afternoon of equestrian show jumping excites, head to Sustainable City. The Middle East’s first sustainable community has its own equestrian club, which has teamed up with UAE Equestrian & Racing Federation to organise this four-day competition. The action starts at 3pm on Wednesdays and across the week, there will also be a dog show, beauty demos, yoga sessions and pet adoption day.
