They say money can’t buy love, but is that really true? I mean it can’t hurt, right? Plus money buys stuff and who doesn’t love stuff?
If money truly is no object, if all your cards are platinum, diamond or black, if you don’t experience the tense sweaty five seconds of ‘insufficient funds paranoia‘ after a cashier swipes your card – this is the list for you. We’ve rounded up some of the grandest gestures, with the biggest cash price tags available for Valentine’s Day in Dubai this year, that actually makes us wish we weren’t impoverished journalists.
Heart Of The Ocean At The QE2
Remember Titanic? Wasn’t that movie romantic? Until Rose’s negligence and unwillingness to share dry floatation space ultimately lead to the slow hypothermic death of protagonist Jack. Well, you can live out those upper deck fantasies with a special package from the QE2.
Their ‘Heart Of The Ocean’ deal for the evening of the 14th February includes a five-course meal, one bottle of bubbles per couple, a souvenir photograph and night’s stay for two, with breakfast, in a Superior Room. The price is AED 1,969 per person (which is the year the QE2 set sail for the first time, SMOOTH marketing there, team). There are only 12 spaces available so if you are interested, it’s full steam ahead.
Night of the 14th February only. QE2, docked at Port Rashid. 04 526 8888
Valentine’s Dinner in an Elevator at Jumeirah Emirates Towers
Ready for *giggles* an up-LIFT-ing *snorts* Valentine’s experience? Well, Jumeirah Emirates Towers is offering a very different sort of venue for a romantic meal. You can now book a table in those famous glass elevators. If it’s good enough for Willy Wonka…
Each course of a five-stage menu is served on a different floor. Take a vertical tour of beautiful Downtown skyline vistas as you eat. Prepared by the hotel’s Alta Badia restaurant, the food highlights include chicken liver mascarpone terrine and mango crème brûlée.
The experience is yours for AED 4,000. If you want to make the night extra special, there’s a bolt on package that screams ‘well, since you’ve already spent that much.’ For a total of AED 5,500 you get the once in a lifetime lift dining extravaganza, a night’s stay in the hotel, and a spa treatment and transfers by Rolls Royce. We’re actually pretty sold on this, we just have one question, what’s the music situation in the elevator?
14th February only. Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Downtown Dubai. 04 432 3232.
When you’ve only got eyes for one person, make sure it’s just the two of you. On Valentine’s Day, The Secret Room at the Address Boulevard seats only one couple. If that’s you, you’ll be served a five-course tasting menu that your personal sommelier will pair with grape. Are you the lucky pair? For AED 3,000 minimum spend, the room is yours. You even get to pick your own playlist, but if their musical decisions are dodgy, there’s nowhere to hide!
14th February, from 6pm. 04 888 3444. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashed Boulevard, Downtown Dubai.
