Five metro stations are to become venues for free concerts.
The week-long Metro music festival begins on Sunday (17th March) and musicians from around the world will headline.
Hear “traditional and non-traditional genres of music” played on “offbeat instruments” at BurJuman, Union, DMCC (JLT), Mall of the Emirates, and Burj Khalifa (Dubai Mall).
A total of 25 talented types are being rotated around the Metro stations over seven days, so listen out for them as you’re travelling. Rising Arab stars featured in the festival include UAE artist Khadija Salem, Lebanese musicians Talia Lahoud and Habib Khalil, Egyptian Medhat Mamdouh, Saudi Taher Al Bahrani, Jordanians Omar Hamdan and Khaldun Al Baz, Syrian Rami Kanjou, and the Syrian band ‘Basita’.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority and Brand Dubai are organising the first-of-its-kind event for the region. The creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office, Brand Dubai is also responsible for prettying up Metro columns with eye-catching street art.
Don’t forget your nol card – it’s probably the most useful thing in your wallet. As well as getting you access to free music, the plastic travel cards can already be used to pay for groceries at more than 1,000 outlets.
