Dubai is going emerald green for Patrick’s Day, and if you want to get your shamrock on, here’s how to stay on top o’the morning, top o’the afternoon and top o’the evening this weekend.
This Irish tradition is celebrated across the world’s largest cities, and Dubai’s Celtic strides are no shorter than the best of them. Patrick’s Day (or ‘Paddy’s Day) officially falls on 17th March – but many venues here are taking the opportunity to make merry all weekend.

Wherever you travel on this earth, there’s a good chance you’ll bump into an Irish pub and Dubai has certainly filled its quota. This cosy Irish establishment on the JBR is offering a weekend of live Irish bands and a delicious Special Leprechaun menu in honour of the popular festival. Preempting party weary revellers, they’re offering a recovery SOS breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning. Get all up in their grill on Saturday, for live Six Nations rugby action as Rory Best takes his team to The Millennium Stadium.

Green Hoppity Hops
Ah to be sure, to be sure – there’s no purer love than that of a sweet Irish rose. Sadly we don’t have an Irish rose on offer, but we’ve got a decent runner up, a British rose. Which, to be fair, is more geographically convenient. Head along to the Rose & Crown at Al Habtoor City, where the pub landlord has put a 21st century twist on traditional festivities, by hosting games with prizes of up to AED 2,000 in cash. There are Irish-themed drinks and food available all through the weekend.

A month of Sundays
This sport-centric restau-bar is taking Patrick’s Day celebration to the next level with a month-long celebration. The Irish-themed meal consists of a traditional Irish stew and brew, for AED 99, plus there’s a AED 2,000 prize give-away every day. Blacksmith has Green Day
The all-American Blacksmith Smokehouse is going green for four whole days in honour of Patrick’s Day, starting Thursday night. There are offers on Irish drinks and unlimited serving of a three-course Thursday evening brunch, with BBQ wings, Po Boy sliders, and smoked catfish with sides of BBQ beans and mac & cheese.

Gastropub the Dhow & Anchor in Jumeirah Beach Hotel is offering happy hour deals through the weekend, with pints of the Black Stuff for AED 35. On the menu is cheese from the Emerald Isle, and on the screen is the Six Nations, with appropriately enough, Ireland v Wales.

Family fun at the quintessential place for celebrating Patrick’s Day. The Irish Village has free entry all weekend, talented musicians flying in from Ireland and plenty to keep the little leprechauns occupied, while adult relax nearby in the huge outdoor garden.
