Easter 2019 feels like it’s sprung up out of nowhere. If you’re hopping to make the most of it, we’ve rounded up a basket full of eggcellent events and activities to help you do just that.
Raffles’ Easter afternoon tea
The grand hotel’s swanky afternoon tea gets a spring refresh to include egg-shaped macaroons, walnut carrot cake and a mini chocolate rabbit. Parents, while you’re sipping on some fine brewed tea leaves, kids can paint eggs and decorate cookies with Raffles’ eggs-tremely talented pastry chefs.
Raffles, Wafi City. Easter Afternoon Tea is served daily from 2pm-7pm until 21st April, 2pm to 7pm, priced at AED 290 per couple and AED 490 including a glass of bubbly each. Easter Egg Workshops take place on Saturday, 20th April and Sunday, 21st April. Advance booking is required. 04 324 8888.
Cookie art workshop at Fairmont Dubai
As well as a huge egg in the hotel lobby, Fairmont Dubai has a cookie art workshop and a visit from the Easter bunny to keep kids aged three to 10 entertained. Each kiddo gets a large baked cookie, colourful icing and decorations they can eat, because, let’s be honest, it’s not going to survive the journey home. Let them burn off the sugar rush afterwards with an egg hunt around the hotel
Pronto Café, Fairmont Dubai, Sheikh Zayed Road, Trade Centre Area. Saturday, 20th April, from 1pm-4pm. AED 85 per child, including a cookie art kit and a hot chocolate. 04 311 8316
Family Day at Al Areesh Club in Dubai Festival City
There’s a fun, free family day out waiting for us in Festival City. Sports and social venue, Al Areesh Club, is holding a morning of activities on Saturday that members and non-members alike are welcome to. The highlight for kids should be the Easter egg hunt, but we’d be hopping straight to the food then getting stuck into the arts and crafts table.
Free. Saturday, 9am-noon. Al Areesh Club, Dubai Festival City. 04 232 5670.
Dragon Egg Hunt at Motiongate
If you feel the traditional style of Easter egg hunts drag-on a bit, why not hit up Motiongate this Easter? Young adventurers are invited to hunt for an elusive clutch of dragon eggs in the ‘How To Train Your Dragon’ part of the park. Kids can meet their favourite characters from the animated movie series – including selfie opportunities with everyone’s favourite winged-lizard, Toothless (sorry Drogon).
AED 50 + AED 245 for park entrance. Annual pass holders get in free, and the egg hunt is charged at AED 30. 2pm-6pm, 25th-27th April. 800 2629464.
Easter brunch and egg hunt at Ghaya Grand Hotel
The Ghaya Grand Hotel has a great value Easter treat for adults and kids. The event kicks off with a grand buffet offering traditional seasonal eats. After that, it’s magnifying glasses out and sleuthing hat on – for an awesome egg hunt. But remember rule number one of egg hunt camp – don’t poach other kid’s eggs. Even if there’s a scramble for the same one. Follow the rules and you’ll have a cracking time.
AED 125 per adult, AED 60 per child (kids below six dine for free). 12pm-4pm. Ghaya Grand Hotel, IMPZ, Al Fay Rd. 055 821 3456.
Bay Square Egg Hunt
Prizes hidden inside eggs are cleverly stashed at various secret locations around Bay Square. Roam the piazzas with your eyes wide open and if you discover one of the twenty golden eggs hidden each day – you’ll see there’s a prize attached. Redeem your winnings at EAT Artisanal Bakery in Bay Square – prizes include UFC Gym access passes; EAT Artisanal Bakery vouchers; Brainscape Live Escape Game vouchers; and luxury Balmain haircare products.
Free. Bay Square, Business Bay. Until 21st April.
The Bunny CrazyShake at Black Tap
Nothing says ‘Happy Easter’ like a case of the sugar whirlies. This new limited edition CrazyShake from Black Tap looks like it’s been hewn straight from the heart of Big Rock Candy Mountain. It’s a cherry shake with a vanilla-frosted rim, topped with M&Ms, three chocolate Lindt bunnies, whipped cream, Easter sprinkles and a cherry on top. There’s enough sugar in it to possibly help you see through the very fabric of time.
