Cricket fans to get free food, drink and shaves

Gillette Street Cricket, Ramadan, cricket, cricket matches, watch sports for free, where to watch cricket

Mohammad Naveed, Gillette ambassador and captain of the UAE national cricket team.

Watch a game of cricket and get groomed at the same time – all for free.

That’s the deal at the first-ever Gillette Ramadan Street Cricket tournament, which returns to Dubai’s Global Village on Thursday and Friday (6th and 7th June).

Although the attraction is closed until October, a car park has been made into two cricket pitches for the four-day tournament.

Last week more than 350 amateur UAE players, originally from Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan, faced off there. Now some of the best teams will return for the round of 16 and quarterfinal matches.

Everyone who goes along to the Gillette-sponsored event gets free pitchside shaves and food while the action unfolds.

Don’t break a duck getting there – bus routes 102, 103, 104 and 106 run from Ittihad Metro Station, Gubaiba Station, Rashidiya Metro Station heading directly to Global Village and Mall of the Emirates Station respectively.

Looking for places to watch pro’ cricketers in action? Here’s where to catch ICC Cricket World Cup matches this summer.

Doors open at 8.30pm Thursday and Friday. Games get underway at about 9pm, with close of play scheduled for 1am. Global Village, Exit 37 Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.
