Deutsche food bank

The Brits and the Germans have a lot in common. They’re both great footballing nations, they both have a fascination with occupying sun loungers with their towels, and then there’s the partying. Both nations love their hops. Which is why an English pub makes a fitting surrogate for German-style gemütlich (cosy hospitality) in Dubai. This particular venue is offering a special menu with stein-banging Bavarian gastronomic classics from AED 65. There are also great deals on Deutsche-origin drinkies, starting from AED 20. Sadly, though, this is the last night of the event.

11am to 2am, until 6th October. The Rose & Crown, The Atrium at Al Habtoor City. 04 437 0022.

The toad and the princesses

Atmospheric pub, Mr Toads at the Premier Inn IBN Battuta Mall hotel, is one such place, offering a generous four free glasses of grape to the fairer gender. They also have a daily 4pm-8pm happy hour, no word on whether it includes HOPS though. Anyone? No? Toad- hops? Don’t make us ribbit ourselves.

Can you Dig it?

Kids seem to have a magnetic attraction to construction vehicles. Is it because they’re capable of creating industrial levels of mess? We may never know for sure. But ‘Dig It’ is an amazing construction-themed activity centre that gives your little Bob and Barbara Builders access to the awesome world of mechanised edutainment. In case that’s not enough mess, the attraction also offers supplementary workshops including slime making, sand art creation, freestyle painting, paper crafts and block building.

The 30-minute workshops are included in the price of the Drop & Dig Ticket (AED 125) and are an additional AED30 for those holding Stay & Dig tickets (AED 75). 10am-10pm. 4-10 year olds.  The Springs Souk. 04 438 4479.
