Murder on the dancefloor

There’s gonna be a ‘murder at the Speakeasy’ aboard the QE2 this weekend. We know right? How delightfully Agatha Christie-esque. This audience participation murder mystery winds around Dutch Schultz, his bar – the Blind Tiger Club, and rival singers Lulu and Rosie. When the bullets fly in this Film Noir theatrical dinner, they’re gonna need you, the guests, to step-up, don the detective hat and figure out ‘who dunnit?’

Prices AED 395 inclusive of food and drink. 8.30pm, Thursday and Friday. QE2, Port Rashid.

Back to Base

This Thursday night – the hip-hop dominated super club BASE is handing over the fader to smooth groove house legend, Seth Troxler. This is a DJ that regularly appears in large print on fliers for club nights in London and Germany, and at festivals across the world. Obviously, we love the hip hop nights at BASE, but we could certainly cope with more of this sort of stuff too, please.

Free for ladies all night (including beverages). Men AED 100. 11pm. BASE, Dubai Design District. 055 313 4999.

Friday, 22nd November

Let the festivities commence

The holiday season is kicking off with the massive, free and always fun Expat Woman’s Festive Fare. It’s happening at Sports Park this year – but it’s still full of its trademark Christmas cheer. There’s a craft market for creative stocking-fillers, food trucks, workshops and massive giveaways (including a trip to the Maldives).

We believe Santa is already on the way to his expat grotto station – so kids are advised to be on their best behaviour. And new this year – it’ll be ‘the one with…’ a replica orange couch from the hit sitcom Friends allowing you to recreate those famous opening credits with your own besties.

Free. 10am-9pm. Expat Woman’s Festive Fare, Sports Park, Dubai Sports City.

UK Hun?

November’s Laughter Factory tour presents at triple Brit threat. The three punny funsters will be over here, as part of a ‘comedy Brexit’ – one, that actually works out in our favour. Brennan Reece, Rich Wilson and Adam Rowe will be bringing their best fest-tested gags, and serving them up to the region’s comedy fans. It’s gonna be a big one.

AED 160. 9pm. Dukes Dubai, The Palm Jumeirah.

Take a bao, sum

It just takes three little words to make us happy. Unlimited dim sum. Which is why we’re soy psyched about the tasty deal going down at Fuchsia Urban Thai on Fridays. Roasted, boiled or fried, chicken, seafood or vegetable – or just all of the dumplings, in your face for a lo-Koh price of AED 95.

AED 95. 12pm-6pm. Fuchsia Urban Thai, Bay Square, Business Bay. 04 425 3080.

Farm to Remraam

The new Remraam community is beginning to blossom in the Dubai winter and this weekend there’s a farmer’s market coming to the community centre’s lawn. In addition to all the fresh organic, dietary specific, gourmet produce you might want to stock up on, there’s also a bunch of activities for the kiddos. Family fun at it’s most wholesome.

Free. 1pm-5pm. Remraam Community Centre lawn.

Here comes truffle

Roberto’s is holding another of their epicurean Postcard Evenings of indulgence. Where their kitchen will host visiting chef, Giuseppe Barbero. The Italian master is famous for his work with truffle, originating in Alba, the spiritual home of aromatic fungi. His special five-course meal will be a true culinary postcard from the motherland and includes dishes like beef tartare with white truffle, grilled veal tenderloin and cauliflower with truffle and a delicious dessert of white chocolate and grand Padano cheese mousse (and truffle obviously).
