Already making travel plans for the year? No matter where you’re headed – make sure to get to the airport as early as possible because there’s just so much to do!
1. Make use of the Emirates lounges
Flying Emirates? If you’re a Skywards member, you can access the business and first class Emirates lounges at Dubai airports! If not, sign up – it’s free! Initially this was only open to Gold and Silver card holders, but now it’s open to everyone flying Emirates or Qantas, so you can refresh with a private spa shower or enjoy a spread of food and beverages.
It’s AED 367.3 for four hours to access the Business class lounge, and AED 734.6 for the First Class lounge. Children can enter for half the price.
2. Take a nap
Ever heard of SnoozeCube? Find them next to Gate C22, and you’ll be able to stretch out in a mini-hotel room for a nap, to listen to music or browse the web.
A single cube is AED 75 an hour, a double cost AED 100 and the minimum booking time is two hours.
3. Go for a swim
Yup, the Dubai Airport has a health club, fully equipped with a pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and more! G-Force Health Club is located in DXB’s very own hotel. You can also pass the time with a game of billiards.
4. Get a (really good) massage
If you haven’t been to Timeless Spa yet, you’re missing out! Massages and facials are surprisingly not too expensive (a 45-minute de-stress back massage will set you back AED 315, while a classic 60-minute facial is AED 367.50). Just like the health club, you can find it at the airport’s hotel in Terminal 3.
5. There’s fun for kids too
If you’re travelling with children, check out ‘Kids Zone’ (between B7 and B8). The family area includes an interactive games zone and a climbing frame, which is a great way to tire out overexcited kids before flying.
6. Check out the Zen Gardens
The perfect place to relax and unwind, after the spa of course. If it all gets too much, we recommend escaping to the Zen Gardens in Terminal 3. These two oasis of calm can be found at each end of the terminal and are filled with verdant tropical plants and places to sit.
7. Get a Chicken and Avocado sandwich from Pret-A-Manger
We were so excited when the popular UK restaurant chain Pret-A-Manger finally came to Dubai, but unfortunately it’s only at DXB Terminal 1, Concourse D.
So if you happen to be travelling through Terminal 1, you have to try out Pret’s chicken and avocado sandwich – it is amazing.
8. Check out the Marhaba lounge
If the Emirates lounge is too expensive, you can access the Marhaba lounge for about half the price! Catch up on work, read or graze the international buffet at Dubai Airports’ Marhaba lounges at Terminals 1, 2 and 3.
Prices start at AED 175 per passenger, but entry is complimentary with some credit cards – check with your bank.
9. Take a shower
If you have a long flight coming up, most of you won’t have access to showers for a really long time. Luckily, Dubai Airport has complimentary showers set up so you can stay clean.
Departures level of both Terminal 1 (between gates C18 and C22) and Terminal 3 (between gates B13 and B19 and between gates A1 and A24).
We all know Dubai Duty Free has everything at slightly cheaper prices, but did you know that during DSF, there are huge discounts on almost everything? This was the first time we went to MAC without feeling like someone had just robbed us.
11. If you have finished trying out all of the above, and you still have time – DXB also has free WiFi…
…and it is so much faster than it used to be! Grab one of the reclining sofa beds, plop down and catch up on all those movies or TV shows you missed. Or if you’re active on social media, go ahead and snapchat all the cool things you just did at the airport!
