Dubai emoji app Halla Walla is Oscar’s hit with Hollywood

As per, the Oscars has social media around the world fired up with hashtags and gifs and we were delighted to spot a Dubai app getting a shout out from an awesome film director.

Two digital entrepreneurs from Dubai created Khaleeji keyboard Halla Walla, so the Arabic world has its own emojis and stickers.

Although the app only launched earlier this month (February), Arabic-German film director Lexi Alexander has been using it to tweet about the 89th Academy Awards.

She signed off with: “You have to admit, the Halla Walla app came in handy today #Oscars.”

A former Hollywood stunt woman, Lexi (pictured) was Oscar nominated for her 2003 live action short film, Johnny Flynton, and has worked on Supergirl, Limitless and American Gothic.
