These Dubai Metro stations will be temporarily closed on weekends

If you regularly commute between JLT and Ibn Battuta via the Dubai Metro, we’ve got news for you.

Route 2020 Dubai Metro

As part of the Route 2020 project to extend the Dubai Metro’s Red Line to the World Expo site, there will be partial closures of the Red Line on Friday and Saturdays for a whole 10 weeks.

Starting from 28th July, up until 14th October, stations between Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT) and Ibn Battuta Station will be shut on Fridays and Saturdays.

So, how are we going to get to Ibn Battuta Mall?

Alternatively, commuters can hop on to the free Shuttle Bus that will act as a replacement for the Metro station closures, which will take them from JLT station to Ibn Battuta station.

“Metro commuters heading towards the UAE Exchange Station need to get off at JLT Station, take a free bus ride to Ibn Battuta Station and then continue their journey by metro in the direction of the UAE Exchange Station. Metro riders travelling in the direction of Al Rashidiya Station need to get off the metro at Ibn Battuta Station, take free bus rides to JLT Metro Station and then continue their journey on the metro in the direction of Al Rashidiya Station,” says Mohammed Al Mudharreb, director of rail operation at the RTA’s Rail Agency.
