UPDATE: Volunteers prepare to clean up Dubai

More than 125,000 residents are being recruited to help beat the UAE’s litterbugs.
Beaches, waterfront and deserts will be targeted in the 14th annual Clean-Up UAE campaign, launched by Emirates Environmental Group (EEG).

The grassroots clean up will start on 5th December under the slogan ‘Exploiting Nature, Exploiting their Future – Get up and Clean-Up!’ and cover all seven emirates in 10 days, finishing on the 16th December in Dibba Al Hisn.

The Clean-Up campaign has been a trail blazer since it began in 2002, and has now grown into a UAE-wide initiative bringing together people, families and organisations.

Habiba Al Marashi, founder of EEG, said: “The goal for this year is to signify working collaboratively towards making the world a cleaner place to live in and more importantly to realise that it falls under the responsibility of individual to take action.”
