With its beautiful Romanesque amphitheatre welcoming the brightest stars from the Arab world and beyond, Al Majaz is Sharjah’s picturesque island entertainment hub.
Now the tourist attraction is set to become a dining and entertainment hub known as Funoon District. Due to be finished by the end of 2018, it’s growing up around the already established Buns Of Steel, Sharjah’s first permanent food truck. Once complete, there’ll be an open air cinema and “engaging social spaces with musicians and artists” making it the perfect destination in Sharjah for fun lovers, foodies and families alike.
The beautiful amphitheatre was built in 2014 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to honour Sharjah’s appointment as the Islamic Cultural Capitol of the Arab region in 2014.
If you need a reason to check it out soon, soulful British songstress Emeli Sandé is booked in for a performance on the 16th February (Tickets from AED 73.50) and hipster shawarma joint Eat Sol isn’t too far away.
Consultants Restaurant Secrets promise the district will focus on homegrown brands, and these guys have been responsible for incubating some of the most popular food and beverage concepts in the UAE – Clinton St. Baking Company, Doner & Gyros , The Hampton’s Cafe and The Victorian.
Already confirmed for a spot there is Zaad Zone, a meals on wheels homage to authentic Emirati flavours with a contemporary twist. More are set to come, so watch this amazing space…
