Dubai’s latest mall will be the home to its second Ikea store.
Festival Plaza Jebel Ali opens in late 2019, so don’t start planning those home decor trips just yet. The Al-Futtaim property will also have another branch of popular homeware chain ACE, to meet DIY demands from Dubai South shoppers.
There’ll be 100 retail outlets, a food court, hypermarket and more in the 4,800 sq. metre Plaza. No other brands have been confirmed yet, but the developer says there will be “a selected retail mix to appeal to visitors looking for the best in lifestyle, home, food, hypermarket and entertainment brands.”
Other attractions for visitors include more than 2,000 parking spaces, plus valet, free Wi-Fi access and IKEA’s home delivery services.
Ground on the development broke last year and once complete the shopping centre will be only 700 metres from Energy Metro station and inside the new Wasl Gate community, where there’ll also be a sports complex, schools, homes and businesses.
While it’s great to see another new development rise from the sand, it’s good to hear Al-Futtaim is taking care of the planet with sustainable construction, and the Mall is also designed to support the recycling of as much waste as possible.
