Dubai supermarket Union Co-op is expanding.
Good news for bargain hunters! The retailer has announced it is to build three new stores worth AED 315 million. The expansion plan will see Union Co-op supermarkets opening in Al Barsha 3, Al Habiya in Motor City and Al Nahda 2, near Al Mamzar.
Overlooking Hessa Street and connected to Al Khail Road, the Al Barsha 3 store will cover 50,000 square feet. The AED 75 million project includes plans for a Union Coop hypermarket, as well as several other shops on the first and ground floor. The commercial centre will have lots of underground parking spaces for shoppers too.
The first Union Co-op store in Motor City will cover more than 77,000 sq ft. The location is being described “distinctive” and, as well as a Union Coop hypermarket, the project includes residential apartments, at a total cost of AED 120 Million.
In Al Nahda, the supermarket chain will take on its first commercial tower project. Land covering 57, 000 sq ft will become the site of a Union Coop hypermarket and 10 residential floors. A contact point between Dubai and Sharjah, the development will cost AED 120m.
No word on when construction on the three stores will start, but the Union Co-op’s known for churning out some great deals for shoppers at its 15 branches around Dubai – it’s just announced that 15, 000 products on its shelves will be discounted by 25-75 per cent this Ramadan, with fruit and veg sold for half price.
