As we’ve come to gratefully expect over public holidays, public parking spots will be free over Eid Al Fitr.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport has announced that except for multi-level parking terminals, parking charges will be suspended everywhere, from 29 Ramadan (Thursday, 14th June) to 3 Shawaal (Sunday 17th). Fees will be re-instated from 4 Shawaal (Monday 18th).
There are some changes to public transport timings too.
Not a driver? OK, the Dubai Metro will be running later, so there’s more time to make the most of what’s hopefully a long weekend. Red Line stations will run on Thursday, Saturday to Monday from 5am to 2am (the following days) and on Friday from 10am to 2am. Green Line stations will be operational from 5.30am Thursday, Saturday and Monday to 2am the following days, and from 10am Friday to 2am the next day.
The Dubai Tram will run Saturday to Thursday, 6am to 1am, and Friday 9am to 1am.
Bus and marine transport timings will also be altered. Also closed for the long weekend are customer happiness centres and testing centres. For a full round-up of what’s open and when, check the RTA’s website.
Public sector holidays for Eid have already been announced and will begin from Thursday (14th June). Private sector holidays are yet to be confirmed, so keep checking back with us.
