Dubai Week

Now you can check out landlords before you rent

RENTER LANDLORD PROPERTY

Thanks to a brand new background check system, renters and landlords can check each other out in just a few clicks.

Dubai’s Rental Disputes Centre (RDC) has launched a new free-to-use peer review service that scopes out both parties in what’s probably the biggest transaction any of us will make while living here. All you need to do is download an app, which is available on Apple and Google Play app stores. It lets potential tenants check to see if there are any complaints or relevant legal action filed against themselves or the property leaser.

GUIDE: How to look for an apartment

The app also lets you generate a Rental Good Conduct certificate and send it by SMS direct to your phone. This could be used to help you nab that dream apartment, by proving to the landlord and letting agent that there are no tenancy-related rulings against you.

It’s super simple to use

  • Download the DLD-RDC app (screenshots below)
  • Go to the Rental Good Central icon
  • Choose an Inquiry on Tenant or Leaser and fill in the details (including full name and Emirates ID details)
  • And voila, that’s it.

It’s another step towards making Dubai a smart city of the future and also intended to increase the happiness, peace of mind, safety and security of both sides of the rental market.

Whilst browsing the App or Google Play stores, why not check out our list of Dubai’s must-have apps to make sure you’re making the most out of the city’s cyberspace offerings.
