Many of us are already enjoying a long weekend to mark the Prophet Mohammed’s birthday (PBUH), but another one is right around the corner.
On Friday evening, the UAE Cabinet announced that the country’s 47th National Day will be a public holiday for both private and public sector workers.
That’s right – everyone should get paid holidays for two days on the Sunday 2nd and Monday 3rd December. We’ll all go back to work on the following day.
So if you’re usually off work Friday and Saturday, that’s a FOUR DAY WEEKEND. Let’s get excited.
Workers are being gifted the leave to commemorate the founding of the United Arab Emirates in 1971, when the seven emirates of the former Trucial States came together.
The holiday is usually marked with celebrations of fireworks, concerts and the country’s landmarks turning the colours of its flag – red, black, white and green.
Check back with us for a full round-up of cool things to do over the holiday.
