Travelling between two of our favourite shopping spots is now a lot easier as Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority announces a new bus route.
One of six services launched by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is Route 50, which runs between International City, Dragon Mart and Al Khail Gate 1 via Silicon Oasis, Dubai Mall and Business Bay. The service runs every half hour and costs up to AED 7.50, depending on how far you travel.
That’s handy if you live in International City and work in Business Bay or Downtown Dubai, or if you love a day out shopping at either of the huge malls. The Dubai Mall is one the biggest retail spaces in the world and has recently added an extension to its luxury brand haven, Fashion Avenue. Dragonmart and new sister mall Dragonmart 2 is the largest Chinese trading hub outside of China and is a bargain hunter’s delight, selling everything from tyres to fashion to garden furniture and car parts.
Other new routes the RTA has introduced are Route E411: Etisalat Metro Station – Ajman and Route F02: Etisalat Metro Station – Muhaisina 4, in Al Qusais. Three new buses will operate on Fridays only: Route 11B: Rashidiya MS – Al Awir Bus Terminus; Route 34: Etisalat MS – Al Brayan Labour Camp Al Khawaneej 2 via Al Qusais Bus Station and Route 56: DANUBE Metro Station – DWC Staff Village.
Catching a bus to Maktoum International Airport? The F55 from Ibn Battuta Metro Station now takes 30 minutes to get there, whereas previously the journey took an hour.
Director of the RTA’s Transportation Systems, Adel Shakeri, says: “The Public Transport Agency is always keen on expanding and improving the bus network within Dubai and the bus service linking other Emirates. It carries out periodic studies and site surveys to assess the needs of public transport riders to address them as soon as possible.”
