Fly via Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport and you’ll spend less on taxis.
Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) is slashing rates for passengers arriving through Dubai’s other airport, known as Dubai World Central. Flag down rates will fall by 75 per cent from 16th April-30th May, so fares will start from AED 5, rather than AED 20.
The cut-price cabs coincide with the brief closure of the southern runway at Dubai International Airport (DXB) between 16th April and 30th May. Dubai World Central Airport will see a 700 per cent increase in passenger flights during the refurb, as passengers are transferred there.
But, thanks to Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority and DTC, the taxi ride at the end of your holiday will be a little cheaper. If you’ve made a buddy on the flight, the option to share a taxi home will also be available.
Dr Yousef Mohammed Al Ali, CEO of DTC, says: “We have also introduced a shared taxi service at DWC, which will reduce the fare for arriving passengers. As such, it is now possible for more than one rider to share a taxi from DWC to multiple destinations. The step will ease the mobility of passengers, reduce the waiting time and save expenses.”
