Fancy visiting the UAE’s Garden City? There’s now a really affordable way to get there.
A new bus service has launched between Dubai and Al Ain in Abu Dhabi. The birthplace of the country’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the peaceful city a green oasis that’s perfect for an away day.
Catch the E201 from Al Ghubaiba bus station, where it leaves every 30 minutes during peak hours. On its route, the service passes Al Jafiliya Metro Station (north), Wasl, Wasl Club 1, Emirates NBD – Nad Al Sheba, Marmoom Dairy Farm 1, Al Faqa station 1, UAE University Mohammed bin Khalifa Street 1, City Petrol Station 1 and Sheikha Salama Mosque 1.
A one-way fare costs AED 25. No word on whether you can pay with your nol card or book in advance, but look out for more information and a timetable on the Roads and Transport Authority’s website, at www.rta.ae
When you get to Al Ain, here are five restaurants you must try and if you fancy making a weekend of it, Aloft Al Ain is a smart new address in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. It’s a short drive from the city’s treasured attractions, such as Al Ain Oasis, Al Jahili Fort (pictured) and the imperious Jabel Hafeet peak.
The RTA and the Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi worked together to launch the route, which is expected to attract around 250,000 passengers every year.
