We take a first look inside Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena

It’s here – the region’s largest all-purpose, air-conditioned indoor arena.

We took a first look inside the recently branded Coca-Cola Arena that’s been climbing up behind City Walk and is set to open in June 2019.

Nothing but facts – the space is more than half a million square feet in size and with a capacity of up to 17,000 people.

Because it’s indoors, it can play host to a variety of events all year round – from tennis and basketball to gala dinners and festivals – and major tours and global events as they make their way around the world.

As well as holding thousands of gig-goers, there are also 42 suites (including two super swanky VVIP and two royal suites).

Above us all, the roof structure weighs approximately 4,000 tonnes, the same as seven A380 aeroplanes, and is supported by two mega-trusses spanning the entire length of the venue that are connected with 16,000 bolts.

Trust us, it’s going to sound great – consulting on the venue acoustics is the ex-tour manager of the uber-huge rock group, U2.

Looking after day-to-day operations is international venue management company AEG Ogden, whose portfolio includes global gig hotspots The O2 in London, STAPLES Centre in Los Angeles, the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai and Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney.

Earlier in April, Dubai’s massive new entertainment venue was unveiled as the Coca-Cola Arena, less than a week after the revelation of the arena’s inaugural act.

Global comedy megastar Russell Peters will be the very first act to perform at the events space in City Walk.

The Canadian comic hits Dubai on 6th June as part of his Deported World Tour, which by the time he makes his long-awaited return to our emirate, will have already taken him to 29 cities across 20 countries.

To really start the summer on a high note, concert organisers Done Events have also confirmed that American rock group Maroon 5’s ‘Red Pill Blues Tour’ will be the second gig to take place there, on Friday, 14th June.
