Dubai’s Ruler often takes to Twitter with his views and this time he’s sharing his displeasure with an Emirates Post centre.
The unnamed centre comes in for a slating from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
His Highness says a ‘secret shopper’ passed on photos from the post office showing lengthy queues of people waiting to be served.
Sheikh Mohammed tweeted the pic with a warning that whoever was responsible for the level of service would not continue to be part of His Highness’s team. Within hours, the post received 11,000 likes.
According to a second tweet, a team of investigators dispatched to the post office found that 75 per cent of the people queuing were waiting for their Emirates ID. A total of 80 per cent of Emirates IDs are sent to Karama Post Centre and collected in-person by workers who don’t have PO boxes.
Up to 3,000 ID cards coming to the post office are beyond its capacity, the report said.
Sheikh Mohammed added that nothing in the government will pass without a follow-up “in all transparency,” so we’re sure big changes will be happening at the post centre soon.
