Mwasalat has resumed its bus service between Oman and Dubai following a crash which killed 17 people.
The Omani-government owned transport company announced on Saturday (8th June) that it would restart the route, after suspending it over the weekend following the smash.
A total of 31 passengers were on the E05 route bus when it reportedly hit a road sign near the Al Rashidiya turn off on the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road, at about 6pm on Thursday (6th June).
Mwasalat confirmed on Twitter that an independent investigation into the accident was being launched.
According to the transport company’s Twitter account, 11 Indian nationals, two Pakistani citizens, one person from Ireland and an Omani are among those who died. Mwasalat shared “heartfelt condolences” with their families.
The service, which runs three times a day between Oman and Dubai, was relaunched in January 2019 after an agreement between Dubai’s Roads and Transport Agency and Mwasalat.
Travellers who need more information about the route or have ticketing queries should contact the Mwasalat call centre – 009 682 412 1500.
