Dubai Police have apprehended a pair of purse-snatchers that were targeting women in Bur Dubai.
Less than 48 hours after receiving their first complaint about the duo, thanks to the latest AI technology, the force had them in custody.
The two thieves were reportedly using a bike to travel around the busy urban neighbourhood, targeting women.
Brigadier Jamal Al Jallaf, director of the Criminal Investigation Department of Dubai Police said: “upon receiving the first report, an investigative unit was formed to carry out thorough investigations using latest AI-based technologies applied at Dubai Police Data Analysis Centre.
Major General Expert Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, assistant commander-in-chief, attributed the speed and efficiency of the investigation to “the dedication and innovation” of the officers involved, as well as the work of Data Analysis Centre using “the latest technologies and systems to identify the suspects.”
Whilst Dubai frequently features in lists of the world’s safest cities, Dubai Police still encourage us to report all criminal behaviour on 999 (for non-emergencies, dial 901). Safety is our collective responsibility.
