2.1 million passengers took an RTA journey during the special extended 24-hour New Year’s Eve service, some of them on a midnight train, going anywhere…
Strangers waiting up and down the Boulevard were ferried to festivities across Dubai, by our favourite, on-time on-track mass transit system. The Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) Red and Green lines recorded a total of 907,411 riders, heading somewhere in the night. Services ran for a full 24 hours over the new year period. They went on and on and on.
The total figure of 2,126,417 RTA transport users, also includes 37,150 tram passengers, 440,521 bus riders, and 689,212 taxi fares. The services were working hard to get those fils, with a 3.6 per cent increase in the total number of commuters for the same period last year.
With the route expansions for Expo 2020 continuing at a pace, along with all the extra associated tourism for the event, could this year’s celebrations be even bigger? Don’t stop believin’ Dubai.
