Could Anfield one day field a UAE star? World-famous Premier League club Liverpool has sent coaches to Dubai to launch its first international academy in the emirates.

If your little scorer is showing signs of promise on the pitch, then who better to school them than experts from the club that has won more European trophies than any other English team? (five European cups, three UEFA Cups and three UEFA Super Cups, FYI.)

Liverpool Football Club has announced the launch of its long-awaited first full-time coaching scheme in the UAE.

English College and GEMS First Point School – The Villa are the first local schools to sign up for the programme run by the English football giants.

Coaches have been flown into Dubai from Liverpool in the UK to teach to youngsters between the ages of seven and 15 how to improve their game on and off the pitch and learn valuable life skills.

The 123-year-old club has teamed up with Dubai-based sports and events management company PESCO to train young footballers in ‘The Liverpool Way’ – the heart and soul of the club’s ethos. The scheme will begin with schools in Dubai but eventually plans to roll out across the UAE.

Liverpool legend and ambassador Ian Rush said: “This project is a great opportunity for the club to positively influence the game in the UAE.

“Our international academies enable us to bring the club closer to our young fans around the world and we’re set to do just that with this project in Dubai.”

Dan White, head of Soccer Schools at Liverpool FC, added: “As the first initiative of its kind in this region of the world, we are delighted that our coaching programme has kicked off here in the UAE, a country that not only has many Liverpool fans but also one which is prioritising sports development.

“We aim to harness this huge interest in football across the UAE and provide youngsters with the opportunity to learn to play ‘The Liverpool Way’ through a holistic, all-round approach to development. Not only will the players improve their game, they will also learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, confidence, motivation and communication.”
