First there was brunch – now there is drunch! Combining eating with having fun, Sevilles’ Latin Drunch launches this month and all that’s missing is you!
The Spanish party starts swinging on Sevilles’ terrace at Wafi Restaurants on Thursday (8th November) and repeats every week throughout the season.
Hola chicos y chicas – first we need to talk about the food. Spain is famed worldwide for a cuisine rich in flavours and as strong in character as its people. Sevilles’ Latin Drunch combines a carnival atmosphere with lots of live cooking stations, so you can try everything the European country has to offer. At the heart of the good times will be a 1.6 metre Paella cooked on an open fire pit. This vibrant rice dish is a staple Spanish home cooking and it’s said that there are as many varieties of the Valencian dish as there are people who cook it.
Chefs working a smoking hot barbecue will keep the supply of grilled meat flowing and of course it wouldn’t be a Spanish party without plenty of tapas. Served hot and cold, these small snacks were originally used to cover drinkers’ glasses between sips and have now evolved through Spanish history into a tasty and often creative dish in their own right. They’ll be accompanied by short ribs and fresh ceviches – a classic dish from our Spanish-speaking friends in South America, who combine chunks of raw fish or seafood with citrus juice to create a zingy dish that’ll have you coming back for more.
Beverage packages start from a very reasonable AED 250 with soft drinks, moving to AED 350 for house beverages and AED 450 if you go premium.
Once you’re fuelled for the dancefloor, charismatic performers will have your hip swaying to Latin beats, with DJ Adrian La Bomba and energetic showman Luis Malabara already confirmed. The juggler won Spanish talent show ‘Tu si que vales’ in 2008 and has made audiences applaud around the world ever since.
If you’ve never explored the restaurants of Wafi, they are among Dubai’s oldest and best-loved places to hang out. Sevilles opened its doors 17 years ago and is now considered one of the prime spots in Dubai for Spanish cuisine.
Dubai’s weather is just perfect for being outdoors right now and Sevilles’ Latin Brunch is ‘la excusa perfecta’ to make the most of it.
