Art lovers, Golden Mile Galleria is your next go-to hot spot for soaking up culture.
The Palm Jumeirah lifestyle destination is transforming into a hub for arts and culture with a huge outdoor celebration of creativity.
Over the next two weekends, the ‘A Cultural Flair’ festival brings an eclectic group of artists, musicians, painters, sculptors and dancers to the terraces of Golden Mile Galleria.
On a welcoming outdoor area, next to Al Ittihad Park, art aficionados from shoppers and the local community can check out Palm Jumeirah’s biggest art exhibition. Two themes of Africa Cultural Pavilion and Art Nights make sure there’s plenty to see and do, from 30th November-1st December and 7th-8th December.
Best of all, entry is completely free!
Africa Cultural Pavilion
Held with UAE-based social enterprise the Ajala Project, the Africa Cultural Pavilion showcases the rich heritage of West and East Africa through live music from afrobeats, jazz, R&B and hip hop, with energetic soco and kupe dance sessions that everyone can take part in.
Shop the fashion bazaar and handicrafts market for African fabrics, accessories and home decor items, while runway shows feature designs by top UAE-based African fashion designers. Looks good, does good – proceeds from sales of limited edition jackets go a safe home for under-privileged girls in Kenya.
See artwork, photographs and installations by artists inspired by the continent’s culture or sit in on panel discussions to enrich your knowledge about contemporary Africa.
Here you’ll find a platform that positively encourages interaction and celebrates up-and-coming artists. Guests are welcome to add their own flair to a community artwork by painting a giant sculpture. Muralists, graffiti artists and spray painters will also create colourful installations for everyone to admire.
It’s also your chance to meet award-winning creatives, including Kristel Bechara, who’s known for her expressive colour and dynamic patterned style; Charlie Villagracia, a contemporary mural artist from the Philippines and calligrapher Nori El Hami.
Once you’ve overflowing with inspiration, Golden Mile Galleria has plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants to keep you entertained. Here are five of our favourites spots.
