There’s truly an Insta filter for every occasion and now Instagram has launched its first ever Ramadan camera effect.
‘Lantern’ is designed to “encourage members of the Instagram community to share their Ramadan celebrations and acts of kindness in a fun and creative way” says the site the spawned a zillion selfies.
The vibe is a subtle glowing bokeh and crescent shapes inspired by Arabic designs usually seen at this time of year, to which you can swipe to add Ramadan greetings in English or Arabic.
Whether you’re filling a Ramadan fridge, thanking your loved ones for an iftar well enjoyed, share in your Stories with the hashtag #MonthOfGood.
Last year between the first and last days of Holy Month, there were over 15 million Instagram posts about Ramadan and in the UAE, posts containing the words ‘donate’ or ‘donation’ increased by 97 per cent.
Samer Jamal, strategic partner manager of MENA at Instagram, says: “Kindness does not have to be a grand gesture. In fact, small and unexpected acts can have a huge impact on someone’s day. That’s why we’re delighted to launch #MonthOfGood and our first ever Ramadan camera effect, so that people on Instagram have a fun and creative way to express their good deeds and celebrations this Holy Month.”
